Horror writer/journalist TIM ANDERSON reviews FILTHY for SEVERED CINEMA

"If you are in the ballpark for a bright bit of stomach churning, colostomy bag filling, testicle bobbing, raw-meat-man-eating fun then "Filthy" may just be your brand of compost."

FILTHY gets great review in Carnival of the Grotesque

"There's some suitably gross moments, as you would expect from the film's title, but it never oversteps the mark and veers into extreme cinema territory. Complimented by plenty of extras on this DVD release, Filthy is well worth checking out and I expect good things in the future from Messrs. Karliss and Lalino"

FILTHY gets great review in FILM THREAT, one of the web's best movie-related sites

"...a family so twisted it makes Leatherface and crew look like Jehovah’s Witnesses."

"...tremendously creative violence"

"...its creators are so ingenious that they manage to turn a clichéd idea into a fun and surprisingly engaging story."

"The dialogue is the highlight of the script, and the performances are extremely high caliber—equaled by Zombie’s “House of 1000 Corpses”."

  • 1:20 "DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH: THE MAKING OF FILTHY" (Behind-the-Scenes featurette produced and directed by Chris Probst) (TRT: 11:00)

In attendance were FILTHY's cast and crew, their friends and families, plus supporters of the independent film scene and horror film scene in Florida and the Tampa Bay area.  It was great seeing you all and thanks for braving the late hour by coming out to the premiere!  A super-big thanks to FILTHY'S lead actress JENNIFER BASS for flying in from Los Angeles, and those who drove from Orlando (or farther) to attend the premiere.

Check out the iMaGEs section for premiere photos courtesy of SHERI LAWRENCE taken at APPLEBEES and KAHUNA'S, the restaurants where we all met before the premiere.

Thank you to PARKSIDE 16 THEATERS for the generous use of their theater and digital projection system, especially CHERYL BASALLO who was our contact for the event and projectionist CORY who did an incredible job!  Can't thank you enough!  Hopefully the success of this event will encourage more independent filmmakers to choose PARKSIDE 16 THEATERS to showcase their work.

AUDIO COMMENTARY COMPLETED

The AUDIO COMMENTARY session for the DVD release of FILTHY has been recorded, headed up by Sound Designer EDDIE STURGEON.  The recording took place at Andy's house the day of the FILTHY premiere (August 29th, 2003).

The cast commentary featured JENNIFER BASS, SHERI LAWRENCE, and JOHN BIEBRICH, the crew commentary featured ANDY LALINO, JOHN KARLISS, Cinematographer DAVE A. BARRETT, and Costume Designer JULIE BARTEL.  Despite some pitfalls (lost actors and power outages!) the recording session went remarkably well!

One more commentary session is planned, which will highlight Post-Production, and will feature Editor TOM LINKIEWICZ and Sound Designer/Composer EDDIE STURGEON.

Check out pictures from FILTHY's CAST/CREW AUDIO COMMENTARY SESSION, courtesy of actress SHERI LAWRENCE.
